The CPI at the Internet Governance Forum Hyderabad 2008

The CPI team will share its experience in Internet Safety for youth and children through 2 workshops:

  • Youth and Internet Governance: Challenges for future! December 3rd, Time: 11:00am-12:30pm

The CPI's presentation, "Empowering Youth and Motivating Young Leaders; Hands-on Experience fromEgypt."

The presentation will focus on the experience of forming and training the youth internet safety focus group in Egypt (Net-Aman); the successes and challenges encountered.

 

  • The Dynamic Coalition on CHild Safety online workshops. December 5th , Time: 9:00am-10:30am

The CPI's presentation, "Observations from Our Community; Efforts to Promote Online Safety for Young People."

The presentation will focus on the Cyber Peace Initiative's coordination effort between the project's beneficiaries in online safety for young people and the concerned stakeholders in the community.

 

The main theme of IGF 2008 will be "Internet for All" under which five principal topics will be addressed: reaching the next billion; promoting cyber-security and trust; managing critical Internet resources; taking stock and the way forward; and emerging issues - the Internet of tomorrow. The forum will be attended by 2,000 participants from more than 100 countries representing different sectors; government, private, civil society, Internet community, international organizations and the media.

 

It is worth noting that during IGF 2008 Hyderabd, Egypt will be receiving the flag of the Internet Governanace Forum that will be held in Cairo in 2009.
